... to spend over 10 years as a country. How would you choose to spend it?

To wage two wars or something else?

I would just hand out the first $7,000,000,000 so that I could stay in office to spend the other $7,000,000,000, but when things go bad I would be forced to spend the second half the same way as the first half, never having really spent any of it on a good cause.

How close ami?

Not to close actually...
Look at the number in the op and look at the number you put down. :p

I suppose the op could also be updated with the fact that in the US the us of "," and "." are different when dealing with numerical quantities.

Ahhhhh the ole European/American period comma thing. Europeans see 1.4 trillion while Americans see a dollar and forty cents.

Haven't Europeans figured out to drop all the 0's and just but a B, or a T so we silly comma using Americas can understand?

"But not a real green dress, that's cruel"

I supported the invasion of Afghanistan. It was harboring the people who caused 9/11. If we'd stopped with smashing the Taliban in Afghnaistan and stayed out of Iraq, the cost in dollars and lives would have been tremendously lower.

If I personally had that amount I would buy a chair and watch the world economy go haywire as the value of the dollar tanked.
Tanked because the amount of US currency in circulation had magically doubled and I had all of it.

Wonder what currency everyone else would use in the US if I had all the official currency?

I would scour the web, plus every database owned by all branches of the US government, and I would compile a list of 1 million people who have shown the most innovation and creativity. And I would give them each a million dollars and say "go create something". And that's it. Sow the seeds.

Even if they just posted a video on youtube showing how they made an LED light using radio waves. Or even if its just a video of someone using a large parabolic lens to melt through a beer bottle. As long as it is somewhat scientific and creative and related to energy somehow. My goal would be to get the money into the hands of the innovators. Let them do their thing and we would see an economic explosion the likes of which the world has never seen. And the best part is it would only take a handful of non-innovative government nannycrats to make this happen.
