If you got your XBOX 360 @ best buy....

How many times will they replace it if it RROD or any other failure? From reading the brochure, it appears that 'once it is replaced the plan is fulfilled'.

am I reading correctly that it will only allow one replacement? $80 for an elite PRP doesn't sound very enticing to avoid having to send it in to MS then..

I can't really speak to the terms of the Best Buy PRP. However, if possible, I'd highly recommend buying ANY console at Costco for their unbeatable return policy.

I'd thought about that.. two things though for me at least.. costco is 105 miles away, and can't check for power supply sizes on the box before buying.

sams puts theirs into another box and locks them up. Won't open the outside box to let you see the label (re: falcon search)

Ah, I bought the extended warranty from Best Buy when I bought my Elite. I think I should be good to go though. I think the RROD on the Elites are few and far between.

pretty sure bestbuy won't count it against your 1 use if it's still under the manufacturer warranty

The BB warranty is only good if something happens outside of the RROD. If the drive fails after your MS warranty is up you have to pay to fix it, but w/ the BB plan you have an extra year that covers everything, but only once.

They'll replace it but I'm 99% certain your BB plan will still be valid if you get it fixed from MS. Better to get it fixed for free now while you can and save your BB plan for if your drive breaks.

I recently used my PRP on my 1yo RROD'd 360...

Returning it was no hassle. I did it by mail, but you can go to the store. I asked about the DLC, they told me to just keep the HDD. I wished I would have kept the component cables as well, but...

I got a gift card for the orig purchase price. With the funds I bought an arcade and, a couple games, and a $40 new PRP (where its $60 on the pro, $80 on elite)
I asked the agent at the store about the rest of my warr (before I decided on the arcade) and was told that the PRP no longer applies as the SKU changed, as they now have HDMI ports and the 2 games. I was told if the SKU didn't change the PRP would have con't. I tried to argue a discount for the lost year of the PRP, as I could care for the games or the HDMI, but no dice. This is what the agent said, but YMMV, as this is a BB employee we are talking about.

Overall it worked out great for me w/ the price drops, new falcon boards, the HDMI, and the new games I got out of it (inc several good arcade games, Boom boom rocket is awesome) as well as a 256mem card and 2 more yrs under the PRP. W/ the elite its not so good unless you wanted to dye an arcade black lol

Also, the nice thing is you get a gift card out of it. You can buy a new unit, not a refurb from MS. Also, if you decide to bail on the 360 for a wii. PS3 or something else, that's possible too.

i have a best buy PRP on a xbox360. Are you telling me that if it "RROD" i can get a gift card back for $399 ( the price i paid ) and buy a Ps3 with the
money??

They will tell you to pound sand and send it to M$ yourself.
At least that's what Walmart did to me.

I had the PRP from CompUSA. Neat thing was that all the CompUSA stores in closed 😕

I opened a ticket through their website, sent in my rrod 360 (just the system, kept the hdd and all cables and accessories) and got a brand new in box premium with HDMI and all the fixings.

When I worked at Geek Squad, I think you could bring it back as many times as you wanted, not just once.

Problem is, I think they take your hard drive, too. Which is why its better to send it to Microsoft since they let you keep it.

man there are so many different thoughts on this question... Not going to pay $80 for a one-time swap that is for certain.. Even two different answers from two different BB salesdroids in the same store.

I did it by mail, I asked the rep, and he told me to just keep the HDD. Sounds like they don't bother even checking it out w/ all the failures. I had no hassle doing it.

Yes, I got the 399+tax on a gift card. I could have spent it all on porno and twinkies if BB sold them

I have the plan at BB. When I got the RROD last month I just took it in they took out my hard drive, put it in the new one, and gave me a $50 gift cert to offset the cost of orginal (399) vs what they are now (350). just applied it Halo 3. It was really simple.
