If you got a life sentence in jail would you do the time or kill yourself?

They were discussing this on the radio and i thought it was interesting..

Hypothetically speaking if you were found guilty and sentenced to life behind bars..would you do the time and hope that you would somehow get out one day or just kill yourself and get it over with.

I think I'd probably go for suicide. What motivation would you have to keep going if you knew you were in there for life?

i dunno if i could...i mean if your a normal person it would take a lot to hurt yourself purposely...i think that instinct to survive that whole self preservation would keep me from killign myself..........

at least for a while til depression and craziness set in

Besides, what's a life sentance good for these days, 10-15 years? Maybe less with good behavior.

I would spend the rest of my life trying to escape. Might as well, cuz you'd have nothing to lose anyways.

i guess i should say life with no possibility of parole

probably depends if i was guilty or not.

if i was innocent of the charges i would spend my entire time reading up on the law trying to get out

if i was guilty and blatently guilty then I would probably wait and see exactly if i could possibly have some sort of life in prison...but most likely i wouldnt be around for long

Well, since I wouldn't have done anything to deserve a life prison sentence... I'll just do the time, hoping that eventually, the truth gets out. Plus, I'll be digging a tunnel to escape and doing the warden's tax returns...

and build a boat. 😉

If I ever put myself into a position where I got landed a life sentence in jail I probably wouldn't want to live anymore.

Wait for parole or make an escape. Suicide is not an answer.
Heh... really, what's the point of NOT trying to escape right? What else could they possibly do to you? 😉

No matter how dismal life would be in prison, there's still plenty to keep living for. The real question is, "Would I survive in prison?", because I sure wouldn't be anybody's bitch and I might die fighting to stay that way.

Depend on my age and my family situation at the time and the reason I had received the sentence. If it was a wrongful conviction I think that would make me more likely to want to live out the term as opposed to kiling myself in great part from the shame.
