a while ago when I was delivering pizza, I was driving at a decent speed (maybe 5 over limit) and a cop pulled out of a side street RIGHT in front of me... I had to slow down and then was basically riding his bumper (unintentionally, honest) because he refused to catch up to the limit and was going 5-10 under... then he turned onto a side street again and I sped up to my old speed. I caught a red light up the road in a turning lane and then sure enough he pulled behind me. the light turned green and I made my turn and then turned right right away into the next shopping center where my Domino's was. right when I turned in, he turned on his lights. i parked and he came to my window and asked for my license, insurance, proof of ownership, etc.
then he asked me, "so what were you in such a rush for?"
i didnt really know how to answer because if I had answered him "well I was getting back to work to get another delivery" or something, then I am basically admitting I was speeding?
but if I say I wasn't rushing then he might get pissed off?
I forget what I said but it was something like, "I dont think I was rushing, just getting back to work" and he went on me about riding his ass and then "flooring it past him" where I said, "oh I didnt floor it, I just downshifted so my engine probably just got louder, sorry"
then my boss came out and they talked for a bit and he came back and said "ok well i put an official warning in the system. dont mess with the brookhaven police (LOL) and do that again or you wont get off as easy" and then he left
SOOOO, my question is... if you get pulled over for speeding are you supposed to be like, "oh sorry officer, I won't do it again" (admitting guilt)
or do you play dumb
"oh sorry I had no idea I was speeding" (insulting officer almost?)
or do you deny
"oh I wasn't speeding" (piss cop off)
or what do you say???
EDIT: oh and when they ask for ID, should I hand my military ID with my license?
