Since I (apparently) can look very 'thug' when I want to, I'd simply attempt to scare the guy off. Unless alcohol is a factor, people usually don't start fights they don't think they can win.
If the guy isn't going to be intimidated (or is rip-roaring drunk), and a fight is unavoidable, I go for the pin. Both my little brothers are wrestlers and they used to take me down all the time, even though I had 50 pounds on both of them, until I wised up to their moves. A good pin is also far more embarrassing than a knockout and generally doesn't have to end with serious injury on either side.
