I don't think it'd be that big of a deal if it was under your bed. It's not going to be hunting from that location, therefore unless it felt threatened, it seems that it would be extremely reluctant to even move (giving its location away.) They're not the smartest of creatures, and probably had no clue how obvious it stood out. For them, in their natural habitat, not moving = hidden. If it was hunting, it would be near the water, since they kill not by tearing their victims apart, but rather, by drowning their victims. There are some recent videos out of people actually swimming with crocodiles in the water - if you encounter them underwater, apparently they don't attack. To them, you're just something big that they're not going to be able to drown.
