If you dispute a speeding ticket.

You can try to request a continuance, but I doubt the judge will let a 9 month one fly. However, you can make a motion for discovery for documnets, such as the officer's notes, and if they aren't delievered you can request a contiunance based on the fact that you need those documents for you defense. Or, you could try to do a trial by mail or plea bargin with the prosecutor.
