If you could only buy one, which would it be: Half-Life 2 or Doom 3

HL2 because games like Dune that are scary I can't play because its too scary....literally

Even in HL some areas got too creepy but i managed by jacking up the gamma so I could see everything.

But in the end probably whatever would scale better to my system

theres no "what if" about it; steam is charging $9.99 for the ability to play over the net, and too play over a lan supposedly.

Not sure, would have to play them both first. I'm pumped that Half-life 2 is going to run so well on my 9700 Pro though. :D

Doom 3 will definately be available for Linux. HL2 will not. Therefore, if I wanted either of these games (which I don't), it would be Doom 3.

half-Life 2, no contest at all.

and Rage187 your completely wrong.

Steam is not a pay 2 play only thing. You can CHOOSE to use the subscription basis where you pay monthly instead of buying the game in full retail.
