If you could go back in time for one year, when would it be?

If you could go back in time for a period of 365 days, when would it be, and what would you do?

1978/1979/1980 or whatever. I'd grab myself a '79 trans-am and put it away. In addition to that, I'd invest and all that other business.

Tough call. Might go back to about 10-15kbce, just to see what was actually around then. Then again, hard to turn down a chance to co-exist with Jesus just so I could give everyone the real story first hand. If I felt selfish I could go back to about 1976-1980 to give my younger self a list of things to do and not do. Just thought of another: 50bce so I could find a way to save all the works in the Library of Alexandria before they all get destroyed.

Of course, there are some caveats. Can I take anything back with me, can I bring anything forward with me, will I be immune to diseases of the time/place, will I innately be able to communicate across language barriers, is this a 'can affect history' or 'can't affect history' timeline, etc.

I'd go back to April of 2005 so I could make sure I paid my phone bill on time...

I don't even need a whole year. I could go back in time a week, pick the winning lotto numbers, and live happily ever after. :D

1992.

first I'd like to see Nirvana live in concert.

then I'd find the 1992 version of myself and warn him that mom really was right -- if you dye your hair enough, it really will fall out so don't ****ing do it no matter how much fun spending 5 years as a blond seems!!!

2003. Just four months is all I need: May - August.

There's no other time I'm remotely interested in revisiting.

<edit>

What I would do/change is far too personal to detail here.

whenever MS went public and I'd put all my money into their shares.

edit: Actually, I like the lottery idea.

A year's worth of lottery winnings + one time payout + investing based on foreknowledge of the stock market = fvck-you money when you get back to the present.

August 1st, 2003 - August 1st, 2004. It was my eighth grade year in school, and it was incredibly good. Everything went my way, which isn't the same way as it has been in the last two years.

Edit: I'd just do one thing to make it better, and I won't mention what it was. Otherwise, it was pretty much perfect and I'd just relive it.

1991-92. I would have chosen a different girlfriend. Of course my life would be completely different, I think.

Excellent plan. Go back in time, win multiple lottos, invest in stocks, and then reap profits when you return to your own time.
