I voted no for 2 reasons

#1 I only have an AM2+ motherboard that supports up to 95W CPU's so couldn't reliably use it.

#2 I usually don't go for these price cuts / dips just before new products are released and companies / resellers are trying to clear inventory. There are reasons hot sales like this occur, either the current product is not competitive against similarly priced products or something better is quickly coming down the pipeline. :)

I voted no and I have an even less "sane" explanation:
Assuming I can get €100 for my GigaByte 790GX UD3 MB + 250e I can calculate that my entire 1100T system would then cost around 220€ (100€ for existing + 125€ for the CPU)
Since both setups use DDR3 I can easily reuse the 8GB 1600MHz RAM I have on this board for the intel solution.
I can get me a 2500K + an appropriate board for 320€.
This is less than 100€ more expensive than 1100T solution.

Since I:
1. don't use cinebench
2. don't transcode much
3. I game a lot
4. I can assume that 2500K overclocks way better than 1100T (especially on water cooling that I use)

The intel system would serve me much longer and much faster for my workload than the AMD system. Despite 70% premium for 2500K, this CPU would be a much better fit for me and would give me a lot more performance than the AMD one.

Hence, I don't see a reason to buy the 1100T unless it was so dirt cheap that it wouldn't matter any more. And that's below 50€.

for a new system? no.

For a system with a CPU upgrade? Yes.

I've used AMD for years and hope they can regain some CPU market share.

How? It's currently listed for $190.

Lets just say I have some $'s saved from doing quite a few of online surveys. From the surveys I do, might as well say, I earn $65 per month, and Newegg accepts it. The surveys take no time at all to complete, just something I do in my spare time. So yea, pretty good on savings for Newegg.

I could get a 2500K for about $155. Which for some reason, hasn't even occurred to me till just now.

So actually, I can save $65 on any cpu on the Egg. And like I said, I have no clue why.....this didn't even occur to me. WTH ?

And just now after realizing this, I think the answer may be clear.

^_^ Good thing you checked the prices then before dropping $ on the X6. At $155 for the 2500k vs. $125 for the X6, the choice couldn't be easier.

Also, not sure why you want to spend $175+ on that Gigabyte board when you can get an Asrock Z68 Gen3 for $125. Overclocking is going to be pretty much the same on these boards. You still get PCIe 3.0 (with Ivy), SLI and CF 8/8x support.

Ah, I see now, yeah in that case my system was free, every bit of it :D

Might as well say I have a job, might as well say I don't put much time or effort into it (working from home ftw), might as well say it resulted in me having enough "free" money that wasn't really mine such that Newegg basically gave me my 2600K for free ;)

Opportunity cost

My power is free too. All I have to do is wait for my employer to make a direct deposit into my account and for the power company to debit the power bill from that account. Its all free to me, the power company is effectively just taking money from my employer :p

Waste of cash imho. I just swapped 1055T for 2500K and even without overclocking 2500K I can feel much smaller dips in minimal fps in WoT.
So it's better to spend a bit more and get good cpu that will last for years instead of bargain chip that will be barely adequate for now.
