if you could choose to not require sleep, would you?

no, i like to sleep. Staying up 25243513253425425425255245352525 days of your life would be so stupid.

Oh yeah...who wants to sleep? they just have to sleep so they dont get tired... i would stay up as long as i could if i was able to

Count me in for eliminating sleep (if it wasn't unhealthy)

That would be great though... work 40 hours straight (with a few breaks for dinner, breakfast, and lunch), then have the rest of the week off 🙂

go ask the US Army. research is being done on this.

Sleep is where your body heals itself and when your mind organizes all the information it took in during the day. it's essential, so don't question natural development.

It's not quite that simple; since you're awake more often, you'll use more electricity, drive more places, eat more food, etc, which all soak up money. You'll make some profit overall in the end, but besides fixed costs(house, cable, etc), all of your costs are going to increase with a longer day.

Plus, if no one had to sleep anymore, everyone would have more money and prices would go up anyways. As for the "I don't have enough time to get my stuff done" argument, you would just end up having more things to do and you still wouldn't have enough time.

That would only give me about 4-5 extra hours a day......

BTW, 8 hours is NOT optimal. It's supposedly between 6 and 7, closer to 7. And too much sleep leaves you more tired than too little and shortens lifespan more.

I enjoy people that think they know so much

Some people can get by with only 5 hours of sleep, and some folks need 8 hours. Heaven forbid that people have individual needs.

Anyhow, if I had an ability to not require sleep I would jump on that in a heartbeat. But, it would be nice if it was a choice, so to speak. Meaning if I wanted to sleep for eight hours I could, or I could be just as rested with an hour.
It would be nearly meaningless if everybody would be like that, but I would be happy if it was just me.

Nah...I'll be at work. Furthermore, I am assuming that this is "super-human", not that everyone else can do it too.

Helpful hint for the time scarce people: GET OFF ATOT. This applies to people who average 46 posts a day.
