If you could choose any person living or dead...

"You are planning the course schedule for next year's curriculum. You have the opportunity to choose any individual (living or deceased) to teach one course in any subject matter during your first semester. Which individual would you choose? What would be the subject matter? Why? "

I'm writing an application essay, and trying to brainstorm possible people and subjects that I could write about.

Anyone got ideas?

What are your interests TubStain?

Writing about something you like makes the process easier IMO 🙂

Saddam Hussein, and I'd have him teach about Terrorism, War and Due Process. That's acutally a class I'm taking next semester, albeit not taught by Saddam. 🙂

There we go...though I'm😕

Zim: I'm trying to be wacky in my app essay. It's to an MBA program, and I know the average applicant will be choosing someone like warren buffett, ghandi or any other iconic person and their respective specialty.

I'm trying to get the reader to not reach for his coffee when s/he reads mine, but rather adjust themselves and read with interest. My essays thus far are pretty good an guaranteed to interest, catching intro's and correct tone etc. (I've handed it toa bunch of ppl and they helped me a ton).

But I'm really stuck on this question. I just need to jog my memory of someone I know, or could research about and write about. Regarding my interests, I'm an IT geek, with a strong interest in Finance (which I intend on pursuing during my MBA program).

So just anyone shoot ideas at me, no matter how random, I'm brainstorming anandtech style.

Who's that really smart (living) guy who is a professor at Princeton I think. His work is in economics or political theory. He's a very forward thinker....can't seem to remember his name. I think it begins in "N"

Hobbes was an early political theorist during the time of the English revolution. He believed that Absolute power must be given to a single ruler to maintain order at ALL costs, as humans have an innate tendancy to gain whatever power they can. For him, anything less would inevitably lead to anarchy, which is the worst situation poissible.

I would very much like to see his comment on the current state of the world.

You don't mean John Nash, do you?

Edit: I'm afraid he wouldn't be a real fantastic speaker, with his condition.

Sadly, "many" people are qualified for teaching a class on terrorism 🙁
