They are working on it. Perhaps in my children's lifetime there will be the beginning of the return of the chestnut to the forest ecosystem. Their loss changed the landscape into something unrecognizable to our ancestors who lived at the beginning of the 20th century.
Yea another cool is many of the Appalachian Trail shelters were built with American Chestnut by the CCC are still around.
