If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you.

Do people actually believe this myth? If I can't see a big rig's mirrors, that means the driver can't see ME. Not my car. A truck driver can easily see my car even if I can't see her mirrors.

This thread is teh fail...

If you can't see the car's mirrors, that just means that the person in the car can't see YOUR FACE. Most of car should still be visible?

We're talking about a truck driver here not seeing the car which will happen if the idiot driver of the car is right up the truck's ass.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

Of course, if a car is right behind a truck, tailgating, the truck driver won't see the car. That's obvious.

If you're close enough that the driver cannot see your face, YOU ARE tailgating.

Some cars might be more visible than others, but when I know there are blind spots on a regualr sedan, when i can see mirros plainly, to think there is no such thing as a blind spot on a truck is pretty silly. Is it really that bad to be back a few feet farther?

Don't be a fool. If you can't see them or their mirrors then most likely they can't see you. It's basic safe driving.

Have you ever ridden in a big rig? It's next to impossible to see cars right next to the cab or in other blind spots.

IF you're far enough back that you can just barely not see his mirrors, that would be true. But then we're talking about a difference of a few feet.

You should watch the episode of Mythbusters where the piece of shredded truck tire cut the test dummy's head off.

You apparently have pretty poor eyesight. I can see and read those signs from many car-lengths away.

You know what would be nice? If people didn't drive like assholes and cause 18 wheelers to get into accidents all the time.

I don't even drive an 18 wheeler, but there are cars small enough that I can't see any part of the car (except the front of it's mirrors) if it gets close enough to my truck.

Edit: And my truck's not even that big. It's just an F150 4x4 w/ the 7700 towing package and the factory ride height.

Point missed.

Granted, you can't tell over the internet how firmly my tongue was planted in my cheek.
