Okay my precal teacher said that if we find out how to do something on our ti-84's we would get extra credit(and I really need it)...I have never used one till this year because I have not needed one in 8th and 9th grade...

Anyway if you could explain to me how to find the equation of a scatter plot of data...the equation I am looking for is called linear regression.

I have tried a lot but still nothing

if you could explain to me step by step how to plug in each point and then get the equation or linear regression that would be awesome...

I really really hope someone can help me

All you need to do is put the data points in a list and then select linear regression. TI has calculator manuals on its site that should tell you specificially what to do.

thanks, except as I stated I have the manual and it does not help me

Look under the "Stat Calc" menu. There should be a 'LinReg(a+bx) ' option.

Ahh I remember doing this for calc...let me go get my ti-89 it should be the same

okay go to stat

edit

type in your independent variables for L1 and dependent varable for L2 in the list

then go to 2nd y=

then choose selection 1 plot 1

then turn on plot 1 by entering over ON

then hit zoom

selection 9 plot zoom or something like that

then you will see your scatter plot

then for the equation go to Stat

tab over to calculate

then option 4 LinReg...

then hit 2nd 1 (L1)

then the , (comma) button above the 7

then 2nd 2 (L2)

then the comma , button again

then hit the VARS button

tab over

and select Function

then select Y1

then hit enter and then enter again

itll give you what y=mx+b is

and you can hit graph and y equals to see it


if your not looking for a line then choose the other options under stat calculate
