My friends and I have Wii's but one of my friends recently picked up a xbox360 and now I am inclined to do so as well. It just looks awesome! Probably no PS3's for us though.

I for one am glad MS saved me some money by by not including HDMI, HD-DVD or wifi. They are not features I would use, and that saved me money to buy games. I have about 15 games for my 360. Sucks that I have a 5 ft ethernet cable running to my switch though. Woe is me.

Well based on your description people would be just as well off buying a Wii or a PS2. More affordable and plenty of games.

Yes, because the features that separate the PS3 and original Xbox 360 Premium (HD/BR capability, HDMI, and wifi) are really as pronounced as the features that separate the Xbox 360 and PS2 (Best online console play, exponentially better graphics, etc.) /sarcasm

But I'm sure you already knew your point had little merit, you just seem to enjoy the flame wars.

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have a PS2 and a Wii. I'm not sure where in my post you got any indication of what my needs are... The core system doesn't meet my needs. I defended it because it meets SOME people's needs, and for some reason you think that the Xbox 360 is last-gen because they offered a gimped version that is good enough for many people.

But hey, go ahead and keep saying the Xbox 360 is a last gen system. You're just making yourself look crazy and/or stupid. Kind of makes you wonder how the PS3 is getting its ass handed to it by two 'last-gen' systems though. But then again, by your standards I guess the PS2 belonged to the same generation as the PS1? It was underpowered compared to the Xbox, didn't have a hard drive, and Xbox Live > PS2 online capabilities. Yet the PS2 pounded the crap out of the Gamecube and the Xbox. <Bill Clinton>It's the games, stupid</Bill Clinton>

If you're looking for a job, I think these guys are hiring.

not defending him at all on the 360, but the Wii is just a glorified Gamecube, but it is selling great and brought Nintendo back.

One thing when people talk about sales of who is "winning". The PS2 is still selling very very well....so maybe this "next gen" thing came a little too soon for people.

An Atari 2600 meets "SOME people's needs".

Once again you contrdict yourself. If it's "the games, stupid", then the Wii has won and the best 360 games are PC games. If it's hardware.... the 360 lacking a hard drive and HD disc player standard has lost. If it's sales the 360 is losing to the PS2 which has no hard drive and used a DVD drive just like the 360 core.

So in terms of hardware you want to compare the 360 to the PS3, but in terms of sales you want to compare it to the PS2. If your going to do comparisions, at least keep it consistent.

Yeah I have one of those too. And a 7800.

Do you not understand what I'm saying here? You are for some reason criticizing Microsoft and calling the 360 a last-gen system because MS released a lower-end version that did not have certain pieces of functionality that are not necessary for all aspects of gaming. What is wrong with that? They still have the Premium and Elite that have everything you need.

When you consider that the PS3 is obviously a last-gen system because it comes with COMPOSITE cables instead of component and/or HDMI, that means all 3 current generation systems are "last gen" systems anyway.

But hey, go ahead and keep saying the Xbox 360 is a last gen system. You're just making yourself look crazy and/or stupid. Kind of makes you wonder how the PS3 is getting its ass handed to it by two 'last-gen' systems though.

I have a Wii and a 360, and the 360 has by far the better games at the moment IMO.

Without the guarantee of a hard drive and the limited space of DVD media this restricts programmers who want to make next gen games.

I can only hope you were joking with that statement.

I consider that the lack of HDMI\Hard Drive\HD media\1080p\motion sensing controller support as default have made it not much of an upgrade over the original Xbox. Even the Original Xbox had a hard drive. I also say this in response to people who complain that the Wii is not much of an upgrade over the Gamecube.

It is a pretty substantial upgrade in terms of power. It may not have HDMI, but it still outputs HD resolutions over component cables. DVD may become a limitation, but the irony is that cross-platform games are developed for the "lowest common denominator," so the 360's DVD drive will hold back the PS3 like the PS2's weak hardware held back the original Xbox.

I agree with you on the Wii. I think it's stupid that people call that a "last gen system" or a slightly upgraded Gamecube just because Nintendo didn't go the route of beefing up speed of the system or supporting HD resolutions. They were innovative in a different way. Meh.

PS3, because I rarely play games on PC or consoles. I do buy them though. Quality of DVD playback on PS3 is superb. I can't wait to try out some Blu-ray discs.

PS3. I assume you mean that if we didn't have any consoles at all, which would we choose? I have a 360, which I just use to watch HD-DVDs and a Wii which sits collecting dust. I wouldn't play the PS3, but I'd like to watch Blue Ray disks. BR has better titles, so I choose the PS3.

PS3, its more expensive then the other consoles and I would never buy it with my own money, so free "is a very good price"
