If you break the law during drivers ed will you get ticketed?

I completed drivers ed 3 over 3 years ago, but I was just thinking about this today. If you have no idea how to drive and you go to drivers ed, you are probably going to make some mistakes.

The first time I drove a car at drivers ed, I was on a busy street going 45mph about 60 seconds after turning the car on. (the speed limit was 45mph, no speeding) Somebody in that position could easliy screw up.

Can/will the cops ticket you for these things?

If you were to break the law - speeding, improper lane change - I can't see a cop pulling you over as you are in a training vehicle... if anything they would pull you over and explain what you did wrong...

I think the officer would have to be in a pretty bad mood to ticket an "Entry level" driver (G1 license in Ontario Canada) for something like that if in a training vehicle.

breaking the speed limit is breaking the speed limit. but you wouldnt get a ticket, the instructor would get a ticket for not stopping you. if you have a permit and get into an accident, the person who is with u (with a valid drivers license, presumably) will take the rap

For something like that, I can see the ticket going to the instructor since he has a set of brakes, so if you run the red light it's his fault for not stopping you.

um, before you drive in driver's ed you have to have your permit right? so you should know the laws of driving from the test you take for your permit

Just for the record, I was going the speed limit. The limit was 45mph, i was going 45mph.

You know the rules, but you dont know how to handle a car yet. I suppose a pesron could get nervous and run a light or something.

then that is what the instructor is there for.

My drivers ed teacher encouraged us to drive over the limit but to watch out for cops. He also creeped the hell out of us by saying "thats a good place to hide a body" as we passed a large ravine.

Reminds me of my teacher. He took us out to some country road and let us get up to 90 so we knew what the feel was like.

Yeah, agreed. I mean during the driving part of driver's ed, you don't even have a license yet. The instructor is stuck w/the responsibility of keeping your butt in its place.

I'm thinking your instructor would be the one who gets in trouble.

I remeber when I was taking my drivers ed, a bunch of morons in a white sedan started harassing the drivers ed car. As they zoomed away my instructor simply told me "Chase em". So I gunned it, got behind them, and the teacher wrote the license plate # number down. Then he told me to get beside them. As I pulled beside, he looked at the kids and casually tapped his clipboard with the written plate number. The look on their faces was priceless.

I scored a 98 on my final test BOI! 😎

That was me! And the cops rigged the light so it was a 2 second yellow insted of a 4 second which it is supposed to be at that particular light. I got the ticket. Cop dropped the ticket before I was able to take it to court w/ video evidence of them tampering with the light. Pushed back my getting my license by over 2 months though. Was supposed to get it July 10th and didn't get it till September 25th. B!tch ass pig. It was on the 4th of July too.

When I was in driver's ed, that happened to some girl in my class. She was in an accident and was given a ticket. Luckilly, with a driver's ed instructor there as a witness, she got off the ticket in court (it wasn't really her fault).

CliffsNotes: yes, you can.

Instructor takes the hit. You don't have a license to ticket.

I was required to have a "learner's" permit or something from the BMV

I dont think you can ticket a learner's permit.

You definintely can. I got a speeding ticket with my permit, although it wasnt in a drivers ed car.
