It's not available here and it costs too much even if it was. It sucks even more because I only connect at 24k. :( :( :(

I could easily afford it, but there's no way in hell it'll be available where I live anytime soon. I could get satellite, & may seriously consider it later this year, but cable or DSL are out of the question.

Cost... The upfront that everyone wants around here stops me in my tracks.. that and I get the dial up for free from work...

Well I dont know about the cost issue. In College Station TX we have At&t wireless broadband 35, COX cable 40, and serveral DSL services around 50. But we share the costs between 3 people so it works out to 12 bucks right now. Im happy.

I have 3 T1's at work, but where I live (out in the sticks) DSL or Wireless will never make it out that far... 26400 connections all the way! :frown:

price, and the fact i dont relly need this. i get my 56k 4 free, but for dsl i would have to pay about $50/month, and i cant afford that. notice prices here are not same as in USA and salary too, so that is a lot of money.

its not available to me at all.

the best I can get is a 64k ISDN line, so I'll stick with cheap dialup for now.

same here we have had digital cable for well over a year (since the end of 1999 I think)
our company just got bought out by adelphia (sp?) too, and they are saying that they are working on cable internet access.

I work at an IT department with a kickass connection, and that is really the only time these days I go on the computer besides really late at night. Once school starts again I'll be back to broadband. I don't think $50/month is justifiable.

Availability. There is a wireless option but it is $400+ for setup and $30/month. I would have wireless but I can't aford the $400 setup cost and the company that offers it has some customer service/administration/management issues. :(

The reasons I'm on 56K are:
1...I can't get broadband at all (short of a T1, which is out of the picture, in terms of cost)
2...They never will install it in this VERY small town. We're at least 30 miles from any decent sized city in all directions.
3...There is fixed wireless, but a 64K connection is almost $100/month! And they include a dial-up account with it for free (well, they say...), so you know it has to be unreliable enough to warrant that.
