Did you even read what I wrote? Do you even know what cross-flashing means? Don't blast me just 'cause you didn't follow up on the "news" and bought yourself some slow burner that can't be cross-flash to faster speed.
Oh yeah, I read every dumbass word. Cross-flash? Hmm, let me see if I know what that means. Firmware that has been "hacked" to increase burning speed, remove rip lock, add bitsetting (booktype) for DVD+R and RW, region removal, and flash an earlier model drive with a newer drive's firmware, etc. Hmmm, yeah, I never heard of "cross-flashing." And let me tell you, I bought my 2510a when it first came out, and there where no better DVD burners out. And there was no "news" of the 3500a's release. If you already bought a 3520a, it's great that they could
possibly come out with firmware to flash it to a 3530a. But if you already have a DVD burner and can wait for the 3530a, why take a chance and buy a 3520a now? The 3530a will probably debut VERY close to the price of the 3520a, so why take a chance on the 3520a unless you HAVE to get a burner now? So yeah, I'm not blasting you because of the burner I bought, I'm blasting you because you're a moron.
And why are you telling people to wait for the 8x DVD+R DL 3530A, then turn around and tell me there's a 16x DVD+R DL burner coming out later. Well, which one is it? Make up your mind already.
I'm taking this line by line so I can address your questions without you getting confused. I told people the 3530a was coming out shortly, and EVENTUALLY a 16X DL burner
may come out in the future. Did I say to wait for a 16X DL burner? No. Why? Because there is no word about its release yet. The point of that statement was, even if something faster comes out, 8X DL burner is a decent speed. Did I make that clear enough for you?
And last but not least...
Most importantly, how many people besides you burn w/ DL media when SL is so cheap? Do people even want to waste money on DL when a properly encoded movie looks just as good as the original burned on SL? Let me answer that for you genius. NO.
So you think a DVD burner is ONLY used to copy retail DVD movies? Maybe that's your problem. But even when "backing up" DVDs, the reason it fits on a single layer DVD is because you stripped out all the extras and just left the movie. Sometimes a little compression is needed if the movie is too big, but usually not much compression if any. THAT is why the movie looks VERY close to the original. Now try doing that with a 7GB+ pure MPEG2 video file you created. Let me help you out, DVD Shrink won't even compress it enough to fit on one SL DVD. And if you could, it would be so compressed it would look like crap. And I'm not going amateur style and splitting it into 2 DVDs either. PLUS I don't want to have to create a DVD menu that links the second DVD. Another thing I use my burner for is to back up hard drive images (some that exceed 8GB). Having a bootable DVD image on ONE disc is pretty dang sweet. So to sum everything up, I'll use DL discs when SL discs just don't cut it.
Did I go into enough detail for you there brainiac? Now I need you to pack up your sh!t, and get the fvck out of my thread.
