I live in the city so I already depend on the public transportation. I use a combination of the bus, railway, and subway... where's your option for that?

Trams and metros are essentially the same thing except for trams get held up by traffic, so metro is my favorite.

On the surface we have the bus, metro rail is hybrid surface and underground, and subway for underground. I prefer walking to and from the subway station. It's only a mile from my house. Takes about 10 mins.

train, railway, subway, etc.

my "favorite" is probably ferry. I used to take it to work every day when I worked in NYC, but it was free since I actually worked for the ferry company. there's no way I'd pay those insane prices on a regular basis.

Rail, when its running right CTA heavy rail can be really fast.

Since I live near Wrigley traffic is a mess half the year.

public transportation here sucks, it would take me at least 2 hours to go 8 miles to work.

We don't have anything where I live that I could use for getting to and from work, really.

I liked the light rail and bus system in Portland, Oregon though. Springfield/Eugene had a nice system, too.

The subway, which I assume is the 'metro'. It's fast, reliable and hasn't effed me over once. I took the streetcar, which is a surface train which rides with/in traffic, and it is completely unreliable during rush hour. I can't even count the number of times I got grilled at school cause the POS broke down or had to stop for an accident for half an hour. I rarely take the bus, but the bus experience is the most confined, cramped experience I've ever had.

I go to work late (~10-11), so I take the subway everyday during non-rush hour. Hard to complain: I take a seat, listen to music and play games for 20 minutes. Buses and streetcars are much slower and if you're taking them regularly the scenery stops mattering.

After spending a decent amount of time in Japan and Singapore, I would go with their subway systems
