Firstly, how the F do you know that they are Indian?
Secondly, its not of their choosing, the American company that hired then (directly/indirectly) wants some friendly names that they can pronounce or say easily, not because they want to disguise.
Thirdly, only cheap people who do business with cheap companies get calls from Indian call centers, or maybe you are Indian or doing business directly with Indian companies, mainly financial organization. So its your fault in the first place that you are getting calls from India. Myself, or anyone I know never get calls from Indian call center.

So... final word, get a life bigot.

Bolded statement shows your ignorance.

"Sir ..press the Windows key"
"It doesn't do anything"
"Sir,press the Windows key"
"It's not doing anything,I'm on Linux"

Hi Hayabusa Rider,

I'm Anand.

Let me tell you how you can get a free Iphone

But when he continues:

You'll enjoy the new A9 processor due to its new for 15 8 wide front end. And while the pipeline has increased 2 stages over the A8 branch misprediction penalties are down 20 percent due to the improved predictor with larger cache.

You'll know its the real Anand.

Experience, not ignorance. I have worked in greater Atlanta area, greater Boston area and now in TX, I NEVER heard from anyone that they got a call from Indian tele marketer or call center after registering in do not call list. Bigots are ignorant, not me

It's kind of a joke thread, but if I were to call someone in India and say my name was Sanjay, they would say to themselves "yeah, right". I've no doubt that there is a native in India with the name of Bobby, but out of all the calls I have had I would say that perhaps less than one in ten aren't Anglicised. I find it difficult to believe that is a fair representation of the population. Contrary to Mr. Sensitive's opinion I believe doing so is insulting both to us and to those who work for their corporation. Your name is what it is and good enough for me. Mr. Racebaiter not so much.

Oh wow! You are missing the whole point aren't you?

You speak(or write) as if they were given a choice to choose a name and they chose the shiny new American name. Let me help you understand the situation here.

They are employed by American /British companies. And these names are given because these American/british employers think that our dearest customers are so stupid that they wont be able to understand and pronounce the companies' indian employees' names. Because longer the call means more cost to these companies. Believe me when I tell you that these companies have a stringent vocabulary cap for these employees. They cant say anything outside the documented responses.

Now many people wouldn't want to talk to these Indians. That's fine but stop behaving like idiots and stop blaming these Indians.

If Americans want best products at lower costs then the American companies will have to outsource these jobs else they cant reduce costs by keeping these manufacturing and support jobs in America as they will have to pay higher wages as per American laws.

If you have any problem with these Indians better take the issue up with the product/service providing American company.

You can try and ask them to get 'American only' support n see for yourself how they politely tell you to fck off.

You should work at my company. Our internal India IT support just uses the letter "A" in the chat help desk.

I'm on the do not call lists and live in TX. I get these calls. I also get calls from non-indians. Do not call lists do not have the security as they once did when they first came out.

They aren't necessarily fake. I've met a number of Indians now whose christian parents gave them boring english-language names. Legacy of colonization and whatnot.

names in India are both religious and caste-based. did you expect a Christian family to have Hindu names?

OP seems to be incredulous at the possibility that somebody in Bangalore could be named Steven. I'm saying it happens and is legit.

Also, my very christian parents named their kids after pre-christian figures. And my white-trash cousins did the made-up-sort-of-native-american-sounding stripper name thing for their kids.

Seems I was blaming their company, but I still don't have to listen. I would have hung up on anyone, but the naming weirdness is what I was referring, at the insistence of their company or not, which you completely failed to note.

I said-

Now how do you pull your comment out based on what I actually said? Would you say that 90%+ of people in India are named something like John or Peter? What I actually feel about the issue is that if Apple hired Anand and said "Your name is not American enough so you are now Jimmy" I would be insulted in his behalf. The only problem I have with foreign help desks is sometimes it's difficult to understand some people.

I love when they call me and tell me they're the IRS. And that the police are coming to arrest me due to fraud.

The dell rep gave his real name, Vishal, but it didn't help any because I couldn't understand him.

I remember calling Dell tech support once and they guy on the other end was clearly not American yet he had a name like Bob or something like that. Dude, you aren't fooling anyone.

Christian converts in India often take Christian names.

It's quite common to find Adam, Eve, Matthew, Mary, John, Jane, Paul, Jemima, Peter, Naomi, etc. in India as the given names.

I have a difficult to pronounce foreign name so I stick with Ryan since it makes it easier for people to talk to you over the phone or when your providing support 24/7 you don't care to explain how to say you name 10x.
