That for extremely dark skinned people only? "Black" can mean anything from almost black to a light tan.

BS. I've seen black people get sunburned. That seems pretty much impossible at spf 500. Seems like dark skin is more like spf 10. What is your source?

Hehe. Yep, my wife found that out the hard way when we went to St. Thomas for our honeymoon. She was intent on lathering me up with sunblock every five minutes during our daysail/snorkel trip so that I wouldn't get sunburned. When I tried to get her to put on sunblock she said, "Pftth Black people don't get sunburned!" That night she was wishing she had put on sunblock cause her shoulders and arms were toasty.

Haha thats funny coming from a black person "Pftth Black people don't get sunburned!"
Most black girls I know stay away from the sun like vampires...because apperently getting darker is bad??? lol...I still can't figure it out.

Yeah, they'll get darker but they usually don't sunburn. My wife grew up in Florida had never been in the sun like you get it in the Caribbean. Spending several hours straight on the deck of a sailboat was more exposure than she expected and caused her to burn. Of course, it doesn't show up like it does on a white person so she couldn't tell she was getting burned until her skin started hurting.

My poor son, he'll get almost as pale as me during the winter but then his skin tone gets dark (kind of a littler darker than Antonio Banderas) after he's been exposed to the summer sun.
