We ordered the present a month before his bday, but it never arrived and we got the run around from the store we bought it at.

So rather than buy it somewhere else and make him wait again, we gave him the money to buy it 🙂

I dunno, was just looking at guitars at samash online and my mind jumped back...

I dont' see a problem with him using it to pay his bills. It doesn't really matter to me though, you give him a present for him to enjoy and it seems that he used it how he saw fit.
