Or would it even be possible?
I figured it would be, just because its MSFT.

Just wondering if it could be done through their own online system.

opinions?

I hope its not true, but my guess is fairly easily. Especially considering all the connectivity between the 360 and a PC for media transfer. Someone will figure out how to infect a movie or mp3 file, which will infect the 360 when played. It's just a matter of time.

put the crack pipe down, kid....

I'm sure viruses will run on an embedded powerpc platform that only executes signed code.

Considering there were no viruses for the last Xbox - even given the massive amounts of modding that went on, I doubt we'll ever see one for the 360.

Actually - I didn't think about that. Isn't it already possible to infect a WMV file with a virus or code that sends it to a webpage with a browser-exploit?

Ummm how exactly are you planning executing video/sound data? Outside of a snowball chance of someone formatting the media in a way that would overflow the player's buffer with packaged instruction, there's nothing you could do with it.

This is how it is possible
