I work from home and my only outlet since my 30s has been playing hockey. NY is still not allowing games whatsoever. I also coach my kids' travel team and they have only played 12 games all year, all out of state at least 1.5hrs drive each way. Now NJ and CT have shut their borders too. We should be almost 30 games in by now. Loss of a year of good development. It is the suck all around.

Optimists ... there's at least one in every bunch. Think of this as an STD, like Herpes. You got it and it ain't ever going away son.

Taking my wife and youngest son to Japan for a couple of weeks. Maybe a stop in Hawaii or we've also discussed South Korea.

Some great ideas in here. I hope all this stuff ends someday soon, I used to travel out of the country at least once a year and try to go to a new country every time. So yeah...I'd like to do that again. I empathize with the people who are older right now, maybe saved up for retirement, etc and unable to do the travelling that they worked all their life to be able to do.

I especially like the surfing and paddleboarding in South Korea idea. I didn't know that even happened there...seems like the water would be cold though?

Packing my surfboard and paddle board and flying to Jeju island, South Korea. Planning to rent AirBnB apartment for a month and take surfing lessons. After that I'll probably fly to Koh Tao island, Thailand, and spend about a month there and learn to scuba and get my certifications. After that, who knows but my basic plan right now is to spend about 3-6 months traveling every year and spend the rest of the time at home.

Look like several of you are planning to travel to Asia. I always want an ATOT meet oversea.

The water is cold in the winter. So if it's wintertime, I might instead go to Phuket, Thailand, and learn to surf there. But I visited Jeju island November last year, and I saw lot of people surfing even in the winter. And thing about South Korea is that they're big on learning the proper techniques for any sport. So I figure I can get really good instructions and learn the proper surfing techniques from the surf instructors there. Plus, I love the food on Jeju and want to further explore the island and hike the mountains there as well.

Here's link to my trip report to Seoul and Jeju island November 2019.

It was during this trip I saw the surfers on Jeju island. Here's nice video documentary film on winter surfing in South Korea. People in this film are absolutely crazy yet inspire me.

BBQ with my whole effin family.

TBH we've been doing that anyway. Well maybe not BBQ since it's too cold but visiting family. If people are allowed to travel and bring the virus back with them and infect everyone, I'm going to "travel" within the city and visit my family. The risk is low, since I'm either working from home, or alone in the office, and my parents are retired. I guess my sister and nephews are higher risk given they go to school. (sister is teacher). But still lower risk than all the people traveling which for some reason is still being allowed. I think the limit is 10 people per house which we abide by anyway but I honestly don't know anymore, they keep changing the rules.
