should we also get rid of term limits? Since the people then are solely the ones deciding the right to the white house, why shouldn't WE be allowed to let the same president run as long as we want? I say if the president is doing a good job then he should be allowed to be president as long as we allow him to.

I meant it wasnt an accident that Roosevelt was voted to 4 terms. He was doing a good job and the people wanted him to stay president - why should laws stop that?

Washington said so for the 2 terms.

LoB is correct, Washington set a precendent that needed no enforcement till after Roosevelt died. People later on got worried that someone they could NOT trust would not be in office for more than 2 terms.
