If using Outlook 2003 with exchange, how do I make it check email LESS frequently

Emails distract me. I get too many of them, and since I'm CCed on most of them, they don't need an immediate response. So I'd rather just be able to define a fetch interval. Unfortunately, since it's Exchange, they get pushed continuously, so I can't specify it to fetch (or rather, render them at pre-defined intervals).

Surely someone else has thought of this as an effort to reduce distractions. Can anyone help?

Tools, Options, Email-settings.

Setup your Outlook 2003 intervals to whatever you want.

Or better yet, just create filtering rules, so any CC'd email you feel in not important to go to another folder, other than your inbox.

This doesn't work for Exchange :(

Or close Outlook and only open it when you want to read email

Outlook takes 45 seconds to a minute to load, mostly due to some plugins like X1 and the fact that I have 27,000 messages in the last 90 days throughout my folder heiarchy. I'd rather not do this
