If UPS has an ass, I'd...

Living in Canada, my first choice when it comes to equipment shipping from U.S had always been USPS. It was so because I read all those horrorible brokerage fee stories UPS charge. That was the case until I educated myself more on that matter learning that it's UPS Ground service which sucks ass.
Knowing that as well as being fed up by USPS's terrible service(slow border passing, item getting lost), I finally gave UPS World Wide Saver a try and here's the result:

1. UPS World Wide Saver costs same as USPS Priority Mail yet it's FAR faster.
Usually, USPS took 8 days to deliver when they were at their best. A few times, it even took a damn month. A few times, the item just disappeared.
How about UPS? It took A DAY. I was quite suprised as the item was coming from NY, USA and I live in BC, Canada in an island.

2. Didn't end up paying full GST+PST which is plain pain in the ass. For some reasons, UPS doesn't even have a PST section on it. I only ended up paying nothing but GST.

So, not only UPS was cheaper, it was far faster. Those of you who cry that USPS is the best way when it comes to getting an item from U.S to Canada, you guys should really try UPS(not the ground one) next time.

A bit of price difference, eh?
I don't think anyone here would spring an extra $100 to ship a computer to Canada from the US. I certainly wouldn't.

I had UPS ship my computer from Seattle to Boston. They left it in the middle of my driveway with the box half-bashed in without even ringing the door bell. I had it insured but they still gave me a hard time on paying for replacing the case. Eventually, they paid out. UPS sucks!!!

I heard the brokerage fee is always $50 or something like that no matter what the value/size of the thing is. for smaller items I imagine the difference could be less than that.

It is like they MUST drop your packages, every single UPS package I have received had been dropped in some kind of way.
Got an iMac and they dropped it and broke the whole front bezel and the frame holding the CRT, I was pissed.

Of course. UPS World Wide Saver is next day guaranteed i believe. USPS Priority Mail is 6-10 Days. A more fair comparison would be USPS Global Express Gauranteed, which is 1-3Days... but even then, it's not entirely a fair comparison, because they don't guaranteed next day delivery (and the differences in prices reflect that).

BTW, what was the BROKERAGE fees on it? The taxes you're talking about is the duty, but the brokerage fee should still be much higher.
