If UPS can move this fast, why is my 2nd day package 2 days late?

Ordered a steel wok with amazon prime on Monday. It was originally supposed to come on Wednesday. The tracking number didn't show any activity, but I was too busy Wednesday and Thursday to spend the time to deal with UPS. Logged in this morning to be greeted with this. I'm pretty sure it takes more than 2 minutes to get from Louisville to Rockford IL, even by air.

UPS did something similar to me. I ordered something overnight and it shipped last Thursday. It was out for delivery on Friday and it was never delivered. I called around 5PM and they said "It's still out on the truck and will be delivered". Fine. Well 9PM rolled around and wife and I got back from dinner and it was still "out for delivery". I called them up and they said it wasn't going to be delivered and the driver most likely went home already. I didn't get the package until freaking Tuesday because they wouldn't deliver on Saturday and they were closed on Monday. Nice UPS, way to dick the customer over because of your lazy drivers.

Amazon did refund my money though and they were awesome.

I'm not sure I could hold any delivery agent during the Xmas holidays. There were obvious late deliveries leading into the New Year weekend. And no, I do not work for the UPS devil, but another one entirely different.

UPS Received the package on the 6th, so they aren't late.

UPS did nothing on the 2nd, it was a UPS holiday.

I love it when my ground shipments make it to my local hub in ~1-2 days, then they sit there for 2-3 more days before delivering because they don't want it to get here "too fast".

Or because there aren't enough packages going to your area yet...

Now you're shipping with portals.

(Dear god that would be awesome, though Amazon super-saver portal shipping would still take 2 weeks.)

There's a daily UPS pickup right down the road from my house. The local driver even told me they hold them until the "expected" delivery date, not a day before.

Oh I see... you're one of those guys who thinks the tracking time stamps are accurate. Silly boy.

But yes, Louisville is eastern and IL in on central time. It actually took 1 hour and 2 minutes if you want to believe the time stamps, but as I mentioned, those aren't to be trusted.

Of course they will do that if there are higher priority packages ahead of it but that's not always the case. I get packages early more often than not when shipping 3-5 days.

I certainly hope you don't think they warehouse packages and send drivers out with 1/2 empty vans just to "hold them until the expected date"...

For express/air services, they will. The delivery date is a guarantee.

For ground, it just gets there when it gets there.
