If you spend it like a typical American, then you are right. Otherwise 1.5 million is EASY to retire on. Christ that's a lot of money.

I assume you mean if I won enough money to live on for the rest of my life.

Yes, I'd still show up for work. I'd continue to work until my company was able to hire a replacement for me and I'd help get him up to speed on the project. I like the people I work with, I wouldn't screw them over by leaving in the middle of a project.

I'd come in and skin a fish on my desk, knock down the cubicle wall, and play tetris ALL DAY.

Absolutely I would. I've made a committment to my team and to the project that I'm on right now. Plus I love what I'm doing.

even if I "only" won a couple million after taxes, I'd quit my job (after giving two weeks notice, of course, since I like my boss and coworkers).

I'd probably spend a few months just screwing around -- ie: sleeping till noon, partying every night, maybe do some travelling -- and then use the money to go to grad school full-time so I can get a degree and get a job doing something that I really enjoy doing, as opposed to my current job, which I just do to pay the bills.

Not possible since I wouldn't ever play the lottery, but yes I would show up to work, because I'd have to regardless of my finances.

I hope you all know that 85% of all lottery winners in this country are in debt within 5 years of their "win"; not to mention friend-less and usually have major family problems arising from "hitting it big"

Most winners claim that winning the lottery was "the worst thing that could ever happen to them"

That being said, I would love to win the lottery :)

I would keep going to work until I had the money in the bank and then give my two week notice. Then sit around an do nothing all day for two weeks. What are they going to do fire me?

I'd at elast go to work to put in my 2 weeks. I wouldn't just stop showing up. However at my last job they never would hve seen me again.

Yes, I'd go in. I would ask for a raise and start working 40 hours a week instead of the 60-70 I put in now. I would get bored as ****** if I didn't have anything to do ever. Work might be a lot more fun if I felt free to tell people to go ****** themselves if when they start being douchebags, and if I wasn't worried about losing my job.

Once that got boring I'd quit and go back to school to study something more fun, art, or astronomy. Maybe try to come up with my own comic book or become a comic book artist.

It depends on how much I won and whether or not I liked my job. My current job, I probably would. Future jobs, dunno.
