I had a problem sending DCC pics but it was a server that caused it switched servers and it vanished
I have not tried to F-serve I know there are settings and f serv is possibly similar to FTP. nOw that makes me wonder if u need to enter simillar information for F-serv as u did to get on to IRC.
Was your F-Server working b4 installing the barricade?
One of my aquainences whos home is 3/4 mile away is Conglamo nick who wrote the script for MIRC called "Polaris" for F-serving. I can PM you an e-mail of his college room-mate (I know them both well) and he can ask Conglamo (alex) How to remedy this problem. was it working ok b4 you put the barricade in?

LMK if you wish the e-mail and I will PM it to ya. Also "Bile" who is on here and new 3 days at anandTech, knows conglamo well too. Bile may have some understanding of networking F-serve and what needs to be put in to the vertual server if any, since he pretty much guessed what needed to be done for Dalnet entery just I messed it up.

glad to see that you got it working. I was looking for threads on irc in here and came across yours.

another way to do this would have been to change the values in mirc.

open mirc.
alt + o or click on options icon.
go to connect-->local info
here you will clear the local host and ip address fields.
then check "on connect, always get Local Host and IP Address
then check server method. then retry to connect. when you retry
check to see that the ip address is that of your WAN connection
and not the private address of your nick i. e. 192.x.x.x.

if it doesn't work then reverse lookup is not working. so
mirc can't resolve (DNS) your host name.

also setting the identd server to active will help. so when you
open IRC or mIRC do alt + o
goto connections-->ident
there you check enable ident server
enter the first part of your email address for nick
unix for os
113 for port.

that should work with a default mIRC.
happy hunting.
