working at a movie theater ive seen this situation many of times...keep it when you dont know who the owner is...because if you dont someone else will

just to add 2 stories in...

our cleaning crew found a wad of over 1000$

one of our ushers was told to go look for a wad of money in a theater...this wadd of money included 850$ cash and over 1000$ in checks...he was given 50$ by the person it belonged to...

wouldn't you report it missing? how many people are going
to report a bunch of $$$ missing at around the same day/place?
 
depends on where i found it and when. I mean, if it is possible for me to know to whom it belongs, I would return it. But if it was just floating around the street at rush hour, it is mine.

I once found about $110 folded up on the floor of a supermarket. No wallet, no ID, just the cash. Should I have instantly assumed there was no way to return it?

I decided to walk around the supermarket for a few minutes just to see if I could spot anyone obviously looking for something they might have dropped. In the very next aisle was a woman with two small kids in a cart, and she was going down the aisle looking all over the floor, so I simply asked if she lost something. In a strained voice she said she lost all her grocery money somewhere in the store. "How much did you have?" "About $100".

That was easy.

after i've looked for it, yes (i wouldn't bother for, say, $5).

I want to know what kind of people carry around $700+. Are they going to gamble? Did they just cash their paycheck and ask for all cash or what? I'm lucky if I have more than $50 unless I'm planning a trip or something. And I'd probably keep it if it wasn't obvious who the owner was.
 
I don't know if I'd take it or not. Imagine what could be on that money if al qaeda dropped it there on purpose. I'm suprised they haven't done something like this too. It would be extremely easy to do and just about impossible to trace it back to them.
