Heh... After reading this thread, I've got no idea how 90% of you made it to a site like this..
I don't mean it in a bad way, but honestly, like 90% have either zero understanding in pc hardware, or you just couldn't care less.

Anyway... To make a long story short, I'd generaly get (what anyone else with at least some knowledge get):
cpu - FX-60
mobo - probably one of DFI's nf4 or something similar.
gpu(s) - 2x7800gtx SLI
HDD - 5 x WD raptor for a nice raid array (hey, money isn't an issue right...?)
RAM - 2 x 2gb will do OCZ
get the best possible i-RAM to run games on.
any one of a dozen great 21" LCD's

yep, I think it'll do for me... :D

...OP, if you're asking this as a serious question though (i.e would really like to know what's the best out there...), then you should ask this question either on CPU forum (biggest experts on hardware imho), or in video forum (biggest performance freaks).

Give me $10k and I'll spend $4 of it on a sweet computer and the rest on a really sweet road bike.

And WTF at the bits in bold? You do realise that you can get dual 30" Apple screens right?! The crazy 9mp IBM doesn't count as it has a really crappy ms speed on it's pixel.

I'm already runing dual screens with a 24" and 23" LCD. Next step up would have to be dual 30" even th ough my setup is more then enough. Maybe when I do some serious work I'd need the extra 23" but one 24" is plenty for most applications. This setup would have been really nice when I was doing some poster and video editing work!

ok seriously.....w....t....f

proc would be 2 dual core opties (fastest avalable) (dont member if theres a bord that fits 4 procs if there is than get 4 of em)

money is no object so id say go w/ 10Tb of solid state storage (raid em do w/e to get to that #) backed up on 20 500Gb drives. (youll need a few PSUs)

regualr ram would be either 16 or 32Gb (depending on what mobo you got and if it supported 4 procs or 2)

vid card would be 2 x 7800GTX 512 (if mobo didnt support PCI-E / SLI then go w/ w/e costs the most :) )

an air conditioned case would be needed allong w/ water cooling (cant give ya a price cuz id do it myself)

4 of dell's 30" displays (when they come out, if additional vid cards are needed get PCI ones) + the highest res projector you can find

sound i duno about so i guess go w/ what evers most expencive (hell its not your $ so why not)

and dont forget the floppy drive :)

if it has to be a single computer...

tyan K8QW + daughter board
8 opteron 885s
32x 1GB ram
dual 1KW pcp&c psus
quadro 4500
quadro 3450 (can't be 2x4500 due to space)
some huge server case
Enterprise level solid state drive (I think they're up to 40 GB now)
SAS controller card
12x500 GB drives
firewire 800 PCI-X controller
RME fireface 800

1 3007fpw (for 3d modeling and cad)
2 ezio CG220 (for color work)
some crazy 1080p projector for movies or that brightside $50k display

that should top $100k pretty easy.
