I have a question. I'm not any kind of Graphics guru or anything but I was thinkin if 3dlabs technology is
so good than why didn't NVIDIA come up with this already? I know that NVIDIA spends more on r&d than most
graphics hardware companies. I tend to beleive that this offering by them will end up like the KyroII. I hope not. I would love to see another sweet card by another company. I just wanted to express this to my AT video
forum brothers. So let's try to stay cool so this thread does not get locked. Have a nice weekend.

Um.... interesting question...

NO ONE SINGLE COMPANY will ever come up with every single possible technological advance all on their own. Just because nVidia is a company that spends lots of money on research and development doesn't mean that they will forever pioneer every single graphics method / idea to enter the market...

Also, don't forget that most likely 3D Labs first cards will not be aimed at the same target audience as nVidia mainstream cards, but instead at workstation environments.

Why did anyone else bother to make a 3D accelerator chip after 3dFX created the Voodoo?
