William Henry Harrison, because he had the right idea as far as how long a President should serve before moving on.

Crazy Horse memorial that is currently being built is going to be bigger than Mt. Rushmore.

Hey, number one question is this: Is there enough stone there to accommodate another face? You can't just resize it like it's a graphic.

FDR or Eisenhower.
More suggestions that wouldn't surprise me. But honestly I don't think they are going to go beyond the 4 already up there because it would automatically slight all the others. It's not politic, and those people always want to be politic with something like this.

Me too, in fact I'm reading his very interesting autobiography (a Kindle freebie), but he was never president.

he should of been. Only person from American history to actually speak like a person.

Van Buren, first American born President and also the first(only?) president who's first language was not English.

/FDR though

No one. I think in general such works are misguided.

I also would actually say that Teddy doesn't really fit in with the other 3 on there to begin with, as I think these days he's revered for generally the wrong reasons. Speaking with regards to the fact that he might be an actual badass but what his presidency did for the country I just don't know that it's up there, but I might need to reassess that (he'd probably be 5 or 6, but to me the top 3 have a sizeable gap between the next 2-3, and then there's a big gap after that). He's become a bit like Jesus too, in that I wish American "conservatives" actually lived by his ideals instead of celebrating him and then shitting all over them. If he were around today he'd actually probably start a new party since neither one fits his ideals now. Oh I always find it hilarious hearing homophobic guys rave about how fucking masculine he was.

If I had to pick one, it'd be FDR and it wouldn't even be close. He wasn't perfect (no President was, Washington and Lincoln probably exemplify what I think is the ideal President the most), but he led the US through what is probably the most tumultuous 12 years of its entire history. Hell there's tons of things he implemented back then that still hold (and many that haven't only because later politicians at behest of outside interests worked specifically to bypass or erode or otherwise just let deteriorate) and have helped stabilize the country quite a lot over the last several decades.

JFK is a bit overrated as well I think. Not bad (and there's plenty of good, he's probably be about 7-9 on my ranking actually). I actually think his brother better epitomized the relative ideal, although sadly we never got to find out what he could have done in that office. But that's also part of why I think JFK was a bit overrated as I think Bobby played a big role in a lot of the positive aspects of JFK's Presidency.

lets start with JFK... there hasn't been a president who has done shit since him.

You're kidding, right? You can disagree with what they've done being good or bad but saying none have done shit since him just...wow.

Yup, it has to be one of these two for sure. I don't think any other president comes close.

I would have to give the edge to FDR.

Eisenhower might be the last truly great man we had in that office, but I don't think he was a great President all told. No one listened to his warnings for one thing (and I don't doubt a lot of people would even argue rightfully so considering America's dominance), and he basically was the harbinger for the rise of the Politican dominating American government. Speaking about military industrial complex and various other things (like the changing politics) is what I mean about his warnings. And while I'm not generally a big fan of the "he was a great military leader, let's let him rule everything!" mentality, he did a pretty damn good job of it and knew his role and had a pretty astounding discipline. We sorely miss men of his character in control of both our military and playing a role in our government. It really is unfortunate how drastically the political/government landscape changed after him, led by real pieces of shit like J Edgar Hoover, Nixon, and the like. Actually that's kinda really the only knock on his Presidency to me is that he was not politically deft enough (possibly by intentional choice on his part) to try to stem that tide.

The whole violating a USSC order and causing the Trail of Tears thing puts a sour taste in my mouth when considering him for such an honor.

Maybe Adams.

True, but a dude like that says he wants on the mountain, you better do it or else he'll cane you. Its too bad Franklin was president...he kinda belongs there.
