physical revisions instead? I'm wondering if buying a PSP right now is such a good idea because I know that with motherboards, when they do an update, they usually can't/do fix some things that should be fixed with software updates but only with a new revision. How long do you think it should take to update the PSP, 6 months, 3 months, a year? I'm desperate for it but I don't want to get a PSP that can't browse the web while another can!

I'd like to have a PSP, but with any Sony game machine, I'll sit the first refresh out. Let all the other suckers beta test the machine, and I'll pick it up once all the bugs are worked out a few months down the road :).

no i think that they will work on making them cheaper to make and working on firmware plus getting more support.

does the original PS2 crash more/is slower then the newer ps2s? I heard the newer PS2s are like 6MHZ faster...

no such thing. they all use a 300mhz emotion engine and a 233mhz graphics synthesizer. the new slim ones are just slimmer because there's no need for a hdd port and it's top loading. as for psp, something will always be just around the corner tech wise. liek the rumor sony may add a hdd to the psp or some other crap. if you want it get it. no point in waiting cause something better is almost guranteed to come out in the future.

it' like saying i wont get a x800pro cause i want a x800xl. then saying ill wait for a x850. then saying, well the r520 are just around the corner... you'll be stuck in an endless loop of indecision.

No. The PS2's are the same speed. The new, smaller units have the following differences:
1) No eject mechanism in the firmware. This fvcks with the demo disks which rely on a little hack in the older units that exploits a bug in the eject mechanism
2) No firewire
3) Built-in network device
4) External PSU (and as such, no cooling fan)
5) The laser assembly, for some reason, lacks voltage regulation. Mod shops recommend installing a voltage regulator board, but as an owner of both an ORIGINAL (rev 1) PS2 and the new mini-PS2, I don't see that being neccessary. The new, external PSU likely has much better regulation because it's MUCH larger than the internal one that they used to use.
