I question our right to deny them nuclear weapons.

I don't question that at all. Iran is an Islamic country that doesn't like us very much, and if it's a question of us or them, I'd much prefer that their cities were turned into radioactive glass instead of ours. Fuck them.

Well, then, I want your next door neighbors to have all kinds of guns, and you to have none, and for them to know it. If it's them or you, I pick them. Should I add 'F you'?

Your response is filled with idiocy, creating a false imperative that either Iran or the US will be nuked by the other, based on nothing.

You are a poster child for the arrogance of power creating injustice leading to war.

When we read in history about the arrogance of nations like pre-WWII Japan that viewed others as worthless insects useful only for their benefit, we might react in horror not understanding the mindset, until we see posts like yours, showing largely the same sort of mindset - an obliviousness to any idea of justice or equality.

In fact you are explicitly bigoted, citing their being an Islamic nation as a reason to deny them rights and say it's ok to 'nuke them'.

When you say 'if it's a question of us or them', it's not a question - you do nothing to find out whether it is us or them - it's a wrong statement that it is.

You'll wake up someday Craig and realize Islam is no less fascism and retrograde than japan or germany was parading as a religion.

US fascism and children BY THE HUNDREDS THOUSANDS.....

When asked by Stahl, "We have heard that half a million children have died [as a result of sanctions]. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?" Albright replied: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price — we think the price is worth it."[51][52] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madeleine_Albright#cite_note-mw02-52

To be fair, the information I've seen suggests the estimates of children killed by the sanctions were probably greatly overestimated.

But they did have a terrible human cost that is very questionable.

It'd funny how that sort of interview goes. It's not a real question and answer.

Madeline Albright was a bought and paid for spokesperson for the policy, who was as likely to say it was bad as a Coke corporate spokesperson is to say Pepsi tastes better.

The more accurate format would be for Leslie Stahl to say, "Secretary Albright, please say the policy is good no matter what the facts are, as you have to do."

Then Secretary Albright says "We weigh the issue very carefully, and the policy is good."

If the question whether the policy was justified were asked to a citizen, there's a chance they'd get an opinion based on some facts. Not really with the Secretary.

So it's pretty misleading to have that format of Q&A that implies it's a real answer.

A better question, at least would be the open ended one, "what benefits of the policy justify the killing of hundreds of thousands of children" (as was thought to be the case), and then she'd at least have to offer up some attempt about 'the danger of Saddam Hussein' that could be interpreted as being inadequate.

US fascism and the US MURDERING children BY THE HUNDREDS THOUSANDS.....

she says "worth it" - but in what way ?

i know one Iraqi family, a mother and 5 grown children. between the 2 Iraq Wars, they left Iraq - the US destroyed their home.

one son is a doctor. Australia recognized his degree, so he could get a license there.

one daughter is a hair stylist in Chicago.

one daughter lives in Toronto, i don't know what she does.

one son lives with his family and the mother in New York state, the US gave them citizenship or something, they are on welfare.

one daughter went to chef school in Finland, she's how i met the rest of the family. one of her most marketable specialties in my opinion is chocolate sculptures, you know like when a fancy restaurant goes WAAY fancy and decorates a dessert table with chocolate roses, chocolate birds, etc. i keep telling her to market them on the Internet but she is not sure.

so the question for AT'ers is - how can you ship expensive specialty chocolate from Finland to around the world without it melting ?

anyway, Iraq has 110 billion barrels of light sweet crude with a low recovery cost. when Albright says "worth it", if some interviewer had the nerve to say "worth what ?" ... well, when oil is worth $100 a barrel, Iraq has $11 Trillion worth.

that's why the US killed 500,000+ Iraqi children.

that's why the Iraqi family i know had to leave Iraq. they had the misfortune of living somewhere that had a lot of oil that the US wanted.
