Could I write a program, get it copywrited, and hire a hacker to get into their system, incase they ilegally downloaded my software?

I'm sure you could (if your name happens to be RIAA)

The law probably specifies that only they can do it. :disgust:

I think it would be funny.

Headlines: "The RIAA successfully lobbies new security hacking law which will take effect immediately."
Headlines: "20,000 computer scientists hacked into the RIAA's database today destroying it within minutes."

RIAA: "We need to get them in jail"

Judge: "I am sorry RIAA, the law that you helped establish clearly states that it was perfectly legal."

RIAA: "Boo who. Who can we squeeze money out of now.?"

Thats all we need is another law that most likely won't be enforced. I bet most of the politicians backing the issue don't have a firm grasp on what they are dealing with.

I bet most politicians won't even know how to use the damn computer...let alone enforcing the law.

That's what scary. Politicians who know nothing about how the law works and what it does trying to enforce it.

These politicians don't know what is going on. They are just trying to enforce something they dont even know about. So damn annoying.

The answer is: Depends on the wording of the law if it were to pass.
