Serious answer, a tv/movie subforum and maybe a music subforum, although music isn't a dealbreaker for me. TV/Movies would be great, though.

There's so many sub-forums now that most seem like ghost towns.

I actually think we could stand to consolidate a few of the subforums, but I don't know how many people would agree. For instance, all of consumer electronics could probably be combined, some of the Hardware and Technology subforums could be combined, and we could definitely combine a few in Software. I think Social is fine as is, but I don't really know how active The Garage or Health and Fitness are, so maybe they could go back to OT?

A while back I suggested that the freebies and hot deals be consolidated, but that didn't go very far.

Permission to say the f-word. The mods have banned me thrice for it now.

I doubt that.

Unless it was for something like this:

f*cking n***ers!

If that is the case, then I'm not sure why you are still here.

Why? I'm not saying you're wrong, just genuinely curious why you say that.....

subforums were what doomed OT originally.
Creating more subforums, especially for topics that garner no more than one or two total threads, anyway, is a horrible idea.

I think we have more threads related to TV and Movies than that, though. We have threads for nearly every popular show, nearly every popular or sci-fi/fantasy movie that comes out, and a ton of threads about old shows like Firefly and Farscape. I just think a subforum would make those things easier to find is all. I don't really care about a music sub, I just said that because I know I've seen it suggested before. You could very well be right, though, and it would hinder disucssion more than promote it. I guess if they ever did create those subforums it would have to be on a trial basis.

I do agree that splitting up OT into the subs we have now was a mistake, at least for a lot of them, but that's because they never had that many topics to begin with. Just a difference in what we look for, probably. I'd be perfectly happy to put everything back to OT like it used to be, too. I'm not difficult to please. :)

Even if this were true, your argument would then be to reduce OT to a forum of 3 or so threads, if everyone else is only posting in threads about individual TV shows.

Which part, you mean about creating a TV/Movies subforum? I don't think it would hurt OT that much. I know a TV/Movies sub wouldn't be extremely active, I just thought it would be easier to find stuff if that was split off, and should be active enough to justify having it. Maybe even just call it entertainment and music and books could go there as well. It would reduce the number of threads in OT some, but I really don't think even the entertainment category would cut the number of threads by more than 25%, at MOST. That still leaves quite a bit in OT.

Regardless of the actual numbers, it was just an idea. I'm not saying I'm right and you're wrong or anything like that, I just threw it out there because it's something I've thought about before. If everything stays in OT, it's not really a big deal. Another benefit I thought of is moderation. If it was split off it would be much easier for a specific moderator to watch it and keep threads spoiler-free, like the GoT TV thread. Again, just an idea. It's really not worth arguing over. :)

Seriously, no dude. If something is too hard for you to find then you don't belong on the internet.

How about instead of the usual wishy washy BS campaign promises, each mod candidate posts a short list of people they would ban if elected. The community would then vote for the mods that best aligned with their banning preferences, and any mod not following through would be banned instead.

What could possibly go wrong?

Yep, definitely need a TV subforum. Denouncing Firefly's cancellation would be the Prime Directive there.
