Yes. 300k is a sh!t ton of money. Besides, the people I know, it would be their first offense, so not only would the punishment not be so bad, but it might scare them off dealing altogether.

Absolutely not. Drug dealers are engaged in a business transaction that really only affects their clients and themselves. Now, sure, you can push the stereotypical image of the shady character peddling crack to middle-schoolers, but the fact of the matter is the vast majority of drug dealers are not engaged in these types of transactions. I've known a fair number of drug dealers in my time (despite my squeaky-clean living) and not one of them would sell to kids. To imprison someone for a transaction that both the seller and buyer wanted that affected no one else just for my own monetary gain goes against every fiber of morality I was raised to believe in.

Now if I knew a drug dealer who was pushing crack on kids, I'd drop a dime on them for free. That shit ain't right.

Depends whether I thought they deserved life in prison or not. I don't think minor drug dealing warrants much of a punishment, but if they are a scumbag selling heroin to kids or intentionally ruining peoples lives to make a few $$, and some other things, i'd throw them in prison for life.

If it's just some guy selling weed to college kids, then no, I don't think I would have the heart to put him in prison for the rest of his life.
