Sure, it sounds great...but I don't hate my job. I'd be bored to death if I couldn't work & couldn't further my education. Remove the education restriction & permit non-profit work and I'd be all over it.

It's quite obvious how that's working out for you.

You don't have to go to school to learn. You can still read any book you want, you just can't take classes. If you're motivated to learn a subject, you don't need classes (at worst, download public lectures on the internet - you're still not taking a course, you're just watching videos on the internet)

I made 60k when I was 22. Maybe it's you that's setting your bar too low.

These people were not capable producing such wealth on their own. Are they really capable of managing it once they have it?

There are plenty of people who are not capable of producing wealth but can still manage it. Those skills are not coupled. In fact, there are some people who can produce tons of wealth but are completely incapable of managing it; it doesn't matter for them only because they make enough money for it to not matter (ie they piss away money, but drink cash slurpees all day)

I know a lottery winner, she has all of her winnings being sent to a savings account. She kept her job and lives modestly (middle class house, good school for her kids, no fancy car). She basically wants for nothing even though she did not produce her wealth on her own, and she is great at managing it.

Thus, being given a large sum by the government does not mean anything; people who can manage it will, and those who can not manage it will not

I would become such a whore. I'd work out all day while earning 120K and then go live it up on beaches and shit across the world. Dear god.

Odds are, I'd take it. However, I would also find ways to circumvent the no educational enrollment condition, either through self study or bribing professors/instructors to come to me or allow me to sit in. I wouldn't enroll in an official program though. It would be a good feeling to be able to focus on pretty much whatever you wanted though, I could travel, write for pleasure, compete in marathons around the globe, etc.

You'd have to keep busy though or you'd go insane.

I live for spending time with my wife, kids, and enjoying life while I'm still here, so I'd have no problem never working again.

I would take it. There is a lot of things I can do with my time to better myself, family, friends, and community that doesn't require me being employed by a corporation. I can volunteer my time for things like habitat for humanity, and other organization. Education can be done in many different ways as well. You don't have to attend a educational institution to learn.

yes, if the home is legally mine.

$120k is more than enough to cover cost-of-living expenses. leaves plenty for you to take half year vacations :)

edit: and even if you cant get employed, you can volunteer at non-profit organizations or just sit in on classes

I prefer to earn my way than have it given to me.

Takes the joy out of everything if it's just given to you IMO.

You have no sense of worth or accomplishment if everything you need is just handed to you.

IT doesn't say you can't work, just says you can't earn a living. Nothing stops you from working int he scenario outlined.

Yep, don't be a lazy ass and volunteer your time. Unless you're already a doctor, researcher, etc, you'll be contributing more to society this way.
