If the BCS were released today (Oct 6, 2008)

The BCS won't be released until October 19th, but at this point, both polls (Harris and Coaches) and 5 of the 6 computers are reporting (The Wolfe computer typically doesn't release its rankings until after the BCS is out officially).

Without further ado:

1 Oklahoma 5-0 0.936
2 Alabama 6-0 0.929
3 Missouri 5-0 0.912
4 Texas 5-0 0.843
5 Penn State 6-0 0.76
6 LSU 4-0 0.752
7 Southern California 3-1 0.619
8 Vanderbilt 5-0 0.616
9 Utah 6-0 0.615
10 Georgia 4-1 0.602
11 Texas Tech 5-0 0.563
12 BYU 5-0 0.503
13 Ohio State 5-1 0.482
14 Boise St 4-0 0.465
15 Florida 4-1 0.404
16 Virginia Tech 5-1 0.371
17 Northwestern 5-0 0.331
18 Oklahoma St 5-0 0.285
19 Kansas 4-1 0.281
20 Michigan St 5-1 0.225
21 Ball State 6-0 0.204
22 Wake Forest 3-1 0.171
23 South Florida 5-1 0.150
24 Georgia Tech 4-1 0.103
25 North Carolina 4-1 0.095

If you just look at the computer rankings, Vandy is tied for #2.

Significant games left...
Bama: Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Auburn
LSU: Florida, SC, Georgia, Alabama
Vandy: Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee
Georgia: Tennessee, Vandy, LSU, Florida, Auburn
Florida: Georgia, Vandy, SC

Insane..

Who's gonna be left standing after these games?

I think it's really cool that Vanderbilt has become a contender. I don't think they'll get a big bowl or anything this year, but a good year like this can only help them down the line with recruits and such.

When do the Big 12 top tier teams start playing each other? At some point they should have to start beating up on each other too, right?

Vandy still has all of their tough games left ahead (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee... ok that's a stretch this year) but I hope they can keep it going and at least get into a respectable bowl.

How can Texas Tech be behind 2 teams that have lost games? Oh well, they still have alot to prove.

OU: TEX, Kansas, Kansas St, Neb, A&M, Texas Tech, and Okie St.
Mizzou: Okie St, Tex, Col, Baylor, Kan St, Iowa St and Kansas
Texas: OU, Mizzou, Okie St. Tex Tech, Baylor, KAN and A&M
Texas Tech: Neb, A&M, Kan, Texas, Okie St, OU, Baylor

There's also the Big 12 championship game

Not as intense as the SEC, imo - pretty intriguing nonetheless.

Not sure. We (I went to Tech) were ranked 7th when we destroyed K-State on Saturday. The spread was I think 7 points against us. Why are we listed as 11th? 😕

Texas Tech was 7th in the AP poll last week, and is 7th again this week in the AP poll.

These are the BCS rankings, which won't be officially released for 2 more weeks.

Texas-OU in Dallas coming up next. HUGE! Has either team been tested this year?

Nobody has been close to either OU or Texas. Oklahoma has given 2 teams their only loss this year (TCU is just outside the top 25, and Cincinnati is also receiving votes).
