1) why don't the humans use energion cubes instead of oil?
2) how high must oil prices go before the matrix of leadership will open and light our darkest hour?
3) is there a connection between the rising gas prices and the mystery of Optimus Prime's disappearing trailer?

i was under the impression that they had an under the table deal with various governments: protect energy sites against decepticons, and they get free energon.

Depends on which country they're in; did they orignally land on North America, Europe, Africa or Asia? What are their peceptions beased on oil consumption in their (now) native environment? Europeans, from my (admittedly limited) knowledge are far more fuel-conscious than the US counterparts - even on a smaller scale, surely their perceptions would be different were they to land even in New York than in Montana, where people need a car just to get the groceries.
Based on all this rather unsettled questions; I think the autobots would make slaves of us all, corral us into some horrid hovel, and make us slaves so that we'd make sexy-autobot facimilies with our now-defunct) automobile parts for their carnal pleasure.
