Clean. Any time something spills I clean it up immediately and generally wipe it down every week or so regardless.

I use a cover when I put food in, but it's been a couple weeks since I've washed off the glass plate.

Clean. I use one of those plate covers in the microwave, which pretty much eliminates 95% of all microwave-related messes.
