I would say Folding@Home, because of what it does (medical research pertaining to many various diseases, including Alzheimers), and because Team AnandTech recently fell to 18th position, and we're in risk of dropping down to 22nd position before too long if we don't get more production.Originally posted by: notfred

The Drug Design and Optimization Lab (D2OL)? works to discover drug candidates against Anthrax, Smallpox, and Ebola and will soon be adding targets for the top 5 major Bioterrorism organisms. By simply downloading a no cost, non-intrusive software application, you can contribute the idle time available on your computer to fight biological weapons even when not connected to the Internet.

I signed up for UD, the cancer research project. SETI is cool, and AT has a big team with impressive stats, but for me it was a bit more personal. My mother has had a few bouts with cancer. Reletively speaking, she got off light, but it still wasn't pretty. If my computer can use it's idle time to try and keep her out of the hospital, then it's worth it for me.
Within that program you can enable a project called PatriotGrid. This does work with Anthrax, Small Pox etc to aid in the global terrorism threat.
IMHO, those are more important issues that trying to find E.T. or being #1 in a stats race. However they are all interesting projects that are fun to be a part of, it's truly amazing the amount of info we can crunch when we all get together.
