If someone has lots of apps installed on their server can they use the backup utility in cpanel?

I need to know becuase some guy was weary about transfering hosts...he said he had lots of apps he used installed on the server. Can he just use the backup feature in cpanel, and then have me restore it for him? Just wanted to check if those apps would still be there

he doesn't want to waste time unless he's sure it's going to work....still not a sure thing, but just wanted to know even for future reference
