If someone goes into a perptual vegetative state does their soul leave them?

A question that came up in our office while discussing the 11 year old girl who they want to take off life support. What is the status of her soul or consciousness at this point? If she has no hope of recovering and is completely brain dead, is she just a body with a departed soul? Or do you think the soul is hanging in limbo until her body dies?

i don't think the soul sits in your brain, it sorta hangs out all over, so your soul head would just hunch down into your neck if they chopped off your head
