If someone asked you what the best Wristwatch was what would you say?

Depends on what you are looking for..

Saying "best" is kind of vague.

You might check out:

Patek Philip (sp)
IWC
Jager LeCoultre

I'd stay away from rolex, though it is a good watch, looks fake and cheap.

Edit: spelling 😛

Yeah I know, I was thinking that I would spell it out incase you didnt know, then foolish me left the abbrieviation in there too 😛

<< I'd stay away from rolex, though it is a good watch, looks fake and cheap. >>

I soooooo have to disagree. In my mind a Rolex is a classic. The only ones that I dont like are the nasty gold on gold diamond encrusted ones. My fav is the stainless and gold band with a gold bezel and the cobalt blue or emerald green face.

I can't see that there is a "best," since there are literally millions of watches in the world that perform identically. Frankly I can't see any reason to spend thousands on a watch that will work exactly the same as a $25 Timex. I have many expensive hobbies, but I decline to spend serious cake on something that appears to impart no benefit.

Hey Don, thanks for the honest and practical response 🙂

just doing a little informal survey here..not looking to buy or anything.

thanks all for the info so far.

Hee hee - I did not mean to be curmudgeonly - I understand everyone has different interests, and others might view my $4,500 mountain bike the way I view a $10,000 watch, so to each his own. In any event I am not competent to offer any input as to the World's Best Watch, so maybe I should have shut up in the first place.

rolex is quality and expenisve but i dont think id ever spend that much money on a watch.

Rolex is not that expensive compare to other watch company like Patek, IWC, Frank Muller..............

WHo want a $3 million pocket watch from Patek?

This thing have like 5000 parts, 4 level.

Hey Don,

Dont feel bad about what you said...it is your opinion right?

also
You have a 4,500 mtn bike? what kind is it...I used to be into mountain bikes like big time..only had a Cimmarron but even in its day that was like $900. I was always intersted in Specialized and Marin (sp?).

It is at my fathers house and I am not on good terms with him, however I would love to get it back. Either that or I will fork and buy a new one.

I have always loved Timex, relativly cheap, good looking and functional.

Doubt I would ever get anything real fancy just wouldn't match my style.

Most $25 watches work just as well as $10000 watches. Anything above $25 is not a watch, it's jewelry. <- Nothing wrong with that.

If I were in the habit of spending large cash on watches I'd buy a Breitling.

Realistically, I'd take the Don_Vito route and get another nice bicycle (5 and counting currently😀). I know that anything over $1200 or so for a bike is in the "diminishing returns" category, but to each his demons I suppose.

<< Anything made in Switzerland or Germany. >>

Heh heh...It's cuz those countries only export their good stuff 🙂

Don'tbe mistaken, there are plenty of Smarts among the C-classes 😉

I like my G-Shock. I'd like to see how a Rolex looks after a game of racquetball 😉 (I bounce off the walls almost as much as the ball does...).

Wow some great responses here.

I agree with all of the posts (if that is possible)

and breitling makes some very nice watches.

I thank you all for the responses.

Personally I am an active member in both the computer boards (like here) and the watch collecting boards and wanted to get an idea about what those who are not primarily concerned about watches thoughts were on what is percieved as "best" and just overall views.

For myself I have datejust and also Casio G-shock, so I hear where you are comming from lethal, the g-shock is tough as nails, and under $100 bucks, but just too big to be worn with my suits.

thanks again for all the great responses, it is appreciated.

Rolex, Breitling and Cartier would be the best. I personally have a Tag cause it looks good and wasn't as much money.

Rolex are f'n ugly. I'd NEVER buy one!

I have the following watches. None of them have ever let me down and the majority are pretty cheap. 🙂

Citizen
EBTek (Eddie Bauer)
Fossil (Star Trek)
Pulsar (Most expensive @ $200)
Bill Bass
Timex (My only digital)
