I think that would be way worse.. I trust Wolfowitz less than Rumsfeld...

Would it be the first time America had a draft dodging Secretary of Defense?

The Family has rallied around Rumsfeld after giving him his spanking. He is officially doing a "Superb" job in our War against the Enemies of Freedom. He's going nowhere. No wavering or faltering permitted.

Theres still a chain of command. Also all Deputies are confirmed by the Senate as well. Wolfowitz WOULD become Sec of Defense, as he has been confirmed by the Senate for his current job, which, entails becoming the Sec of Defense, if the Sec of Defense resigns, is fired, or can no longer preform the job(dead or medical problems).

Just look at the past when Jackson and Nixon both fired cabinet positions, the second in command took over, atleast until they were fired as well for not doing what their respective presidents wanted.

Dont let that fool you. There is internal pressure to get Rummy to resign, they just want to make sure he doesnt turn against the White House, like the other ex-admin members.

It really does not matter who is Secretary of Defense because he will be following GWB's directives or he will be out of a job.

Do you think they were following Bush's directive when making the Iraq abuse case a seconday priority/didnt care for 4 months? No they were not. But you are correct, if someone replaces Rumsfield, they will be on an extremely short leash.

Yes, I do. I hold GWB directly responsible for everything that happens during his watch. Why don't you?

Oh he is responsible. But it was NOT his doing. Rumsfeild and Myers made the decision to not make this a priority, not Bush.

If Rumsfeld had done this without Bush's approval he would have been fired last week. But you noticed that Bush is supporting him
What does that tell you about what really thinks about Rumsfeld actions?

So were almost 3/4 of Bush's administration. Plus, at least Clinton only did pot, not coke.
