If Romney/Santorum/Gingrich is elected and 3 years later the economy is still in the crapper, will the supporters respond with, "Well they were left with Obama's crippling debt...they just need some more time." etc etc

Yes, go search for threads about Bush from the 2003 time frame. Republicans all blamed Clinton. Hell they continued to blame Clinton until the day Obama took office and then they started blaming Obama.
